WordPress Upgrade

I really want to be able to enable comments again on the blog here but was having terrible problems with comment spam. As a result I’ve upgraded WordPress to the latest edition and am mucking about with some new anti-spam measures.

I’ve also updated the theme using Back in Black 2 Blue by neuro as a starting point, a graphic based on a photo by my friend Stewart Campbell and I’m going to see if I can turn the tabs at the top into a roll-over menu.

Well I have added the WP HashCash plug in which promises 100% spam disposal. Basically it makes your browser generate an MD5 hash (using javascript) and submit it back with the form. The name and value both have to be generated at page load time and both are different each time so a spam robot can not regex them and can not reproduce them unless it supports javascript itself.

It means that browsers without javascript (or with javascript disabled) wont be able to post comments, sorry Lynx users!

That photo really kicks ass and goes perfectly with the theme.
    I’m jealous, really.

I’m glad you like it! Stewart has a lot of very cool photos on his website and I thought this one would go well. It’s a picture of the Quay entertainment complex on the south side of the River Clyde (taken from the north side) here in Glasgow. Your theme is fantastic anyway though!
